Joe Flizzow wins an AIM award; “President” honoured as “Best Local English Album”at the Award’s ceremonies

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 May 2009 – Kartel Records/Warner recording artist Joe Flizzow has won his first Anugerah Industri Malaysia (AIM) Award for his hit album, “PRESIDENT”. The critically acclaimed debut solo album which features chart-topping tracks like “Do It Duit”, “Isabella” and “All Around The World” received the trophy for Best Local English Album at the ceremonies held on Saturday at PWTC Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In his acceptance speech, Joe thanked the “fans of hip-hop all over Asia and Malaysia”.

A stunning live performer, Joe Flizzow’s performance of “Bergerak” which featured Phlowtron alongside 90 National Service participants was hailed as one of the event’s most thrilling moments. The professional and impeccable showmanship shown by Joe Flizzow was truly a display of Malaysian hip-hop at its best. 

“PRESIDENT” – which marks the premiere release from Joe Flizzow’s Kartel Records label, in partnership with Warner Music Malaysia – is without question one of 2008’s most compelling releases. Executive Produced by Joe Flizzow, the album features production from an array of studio superstars, including DJ T-Bone, DJ Goldfish, Terry Lee, Don M, DJ Iman, Koko & Syaheed Bedsty and Khan Thaitanium. Joining Joe Flizzow behind the mic are such talented artists as KRS-One, Thaitanium, Jin the MC, terrytyeleee, Hady Mirza, Amy Search, Joeniar Arief and Phlowtron.

With “PRESIDENT” Joe Flizzow more than fulfills the promise of the Too Phat era. As Too Phat, their multi-platinum albums have won numerous awards locally as well as achieving recognitions from MTV Asia and Channel V. Collaborations with acts from Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Australia, Sweden, Canada and United States have allowed for an all-access worldwide pass. Regional appearances and performances are reflective in their album sales with over half a million records sold to date.

Joe Flizzow is internationally acknowledged as Malaysia’s hip-hop ambassador. He is Prestige Malaysia’s “Top 40 Under 40 Poised for Power” and has toured the international circuit extensively in the past year performing in London, Melbourne, Shanghai, Bangkok, Jakarta and Rotterdam to name a few.
