Altimet is an award winning rapper, live entertainer, songwriter, producer, arranger, television and live events host. Ahmad bin Abdul Rahman (born 27 November 1978), better known as Altimet, is recognized as an industry mover and among the “individuals who are shaping Malaysia” (August Man magazine August 2010 Issue).

Making the decision to pursue a solo career, Altimet was immediately offered a record and talent management deal by Kartel Records. “We had been looking for a solo rapper to sign and consider Altimet a significant addition to the label given his stature as one of Malaysia’s most sought after talent in the entertainment industry” says Kartel Records CEO, Joe Flizzow.  

Indeed such recognition can be seen from his strong presence at award shows in 2010. He recently notched an impressive six nominations for various categories including Bes Hip-Hop album and Best Hip-Hop song at the Anugerah Industri Muzik 17. He has further been nominated for a Shout! Award (Flava Category) and also a Voize Independent Music Award of which he was the recipient of the “Best Collaboration Award”.

Altimet’s experience as a professional live entertainer is second to none with over a decade’s worth of quality performances from the smallest of gigs to prestigious concerts and award shows. Notable performances include Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007, Anugerah Industri Muzik 17, Konsert Astro Ria, Singapore Hip-Hop Festival, KL Hip-Hop Festival, Java Soulnation (Jakarta, Indonesia), Singapore Youth Festival, Shout! Awards and many more. Altimet was also recently featured as the sole hip-hop act in XFM’s seminal tribute compilation “P. Ramlee... Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti: Satu Indiepretasi”. This led to his appearance at the tribute concert, “Konsert Penghargaan P. Ramlee Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti” which was broadcasted on Astro Ria and the History Channel.

Altimet's incredible chart presence on Malaysian adio stations is certainly a testament to his songwriting prowess. His single Kotarayaku featuring Noh Salleh gave Kuala Lumpur a new anthem to represent proudly. Kalau Berpacaran, a collaboration with Sohaimi Mior Hassan and Ana Rafali, reached number 1 on Hot FM Top 20 Charts and number 2 on Era FM Top 40 Charts. Kalau Berpacaran also made it to the Final 12 of the prestigious Anugerah Juara Lagu 2012.

Throughout 2011, Altimet expanded his repertoire of published musical works in an impressive way. He co-wrote the song “Malaysian Boy”, commissioned by Astro for the Konsert Suara Kami 2011 which became an instant hit nationwide garnering over a million Youtube views online. Altimet was also involved in the song “Selamanya” featuring Ultras Malaya, Joe Flizzow & Carleed specially done for the Malaysian national football team. Altimet also toured United Kingdom (February 2011) and Kazakhstan (June 2011) in 2011.

2012 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for Altimet as he settles into his new role as Executive Director of Kartel Records as well releasing more new music, video content and a planned TV appearance alongside the Hero Malaya collective.
